WHAT IS A WRITERS’ GROUP?
A writers’ group is people with similar interests, differing personalities, a variety of knowledge and experience, and a need to write. The group focuses on the goals of the members, what the members gain from and contribute to each other, helping to improve their writing, make it stronger, and, frequently, get published. Improvement is achieved through creativity, through exploration, through vision and revision, and through challenge.
THE WRITE TOUCH WRITING GROUP is a Lockport-based writers’ group holding twice monthly meetings addressing the above via:
The Roundtable, featuring readings, critiquing, and writing exercises.
Workshops, presented by members and guest speakers with writing expertise provide members with education and insight about their craft.
Write Words, a bi-monthly newsletter with editorials, member news and members’ submissions.
Writing is a solitary endeavor; we fill the need for peer support. We know from our own experiences just how isolating writing can be.
Unless you are John Grisham, Stephen King, or Mary Higgins Clark, most of your friends and relatives will not understand your need to write. We know the frustration of rejection slips, and love to share the joys of being published.
Some of our members are beginners, some are published, and some are thinking about it. Our writings include fiction, nonfiction, essays, articles, short stories, and poetry.
Have you ever read a book and said to yourself “I can write this…” or “I can write better than this…”? If you have ever uttered or thought those words, then we may be the resource for you.
We welcome anyone interested in writing to attend our meetings. Come as a guest, see what we do, join up to actively participate in writing activities.
Meetings run 6:30-8:45pm.
